In todays modern age, retention of members has become a problem, the role of the Lodge Mentor is extremely important in trying to ensure that every member of the Lodge gains the most from Freemasonry and gives the most to Freemasonry, to ensure a happy and fulfilling masonic career. He relies heavily on the Personal Lodge Mentors he helps to appoint to ensure that every member knows that he has someone he can talk with on whatever matter he would like, about Freemasonry in general or a specific subject. 

The Lodge Mentor is the co-ordinator of mentoring in the Lodge and a successful Lodge Mentor can help produce a happy and successful Lodge.
