The Ceremonial Officers of the Lodge are responsible for all aspects of the Ceremonial carried out in the Lodge and afterwards at the meal that always follows a meeting. They do not have to be Past masters but you will often find that they are, in fact it would be unusual to find a Director of Ceremonies who is not a Past Master. His progression through the Chair would have been invaluable to him in this most conspicuous office. He will need all of the experience he gained from being in the ‘progressive’ offices and the Masters Chair.
