I am married with 4 children, a Daughter who lives in France and 3 sons, one of whom served as a Royal Marine Commando for 7 years seeing action in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I left school in 1972 and started employment as an Apprentice Marine Engineer working all over the World in the Merchant Navy after qualifying. A change of direction in the late 80s and I started working on the Channel Tunnel build and changed to an Electrical profession qualifying as a JIB graded Electrician and following on in Employment in an Electrical / Mechanical occupation. I currently work in the Dover Technical college following a brief spell in Reality TV and former Eurotunnel and South Eastern Railway Engineering employers.

I became a Freemason in 1997 joining the Shorncliffe Lodge and becoming Master in November 2002. A spell of Charity Steward for 13 years and I am currently the Assistant Director of Ceremonies in that Lodge. I became a Joining Member of Septem Lodge No 7788 in early 2004 as I have always been a regular attendee since joining Freemasonry.. I became Master in 2012 and again in my Mother lodge in 2015-16 and 2016-17. A total of 4 Chairs. I served for 5 years on the Provincial Charity committee and 1 year as the Mentor Coordinator for the Dover Group. I also became the Group Leader for Area 6 in 2016 and report on 6 towns in the Province. I became the Visiting Volunteer Almoner for area 7 until earlier this year. I am also a Member of Millennium Lodge of Charity and held office of Charity Steward for 3 years and am currently Almoner there. I am also a member of East Kent Masters where I hold no office. I also belong to various side orders.

I received a First Provincial appointment in 2010 as Past Provincial Senior Grand Deacon and was promoted to active rank of Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works at the Provincial festival in April 2016 and waas further promoted to Active Provincial Grand Sword Bearer at the Provincial Festival in April 2022. 

I was a football Referee in my younger days and was in the top 2000 Level 4 Referees in the Country, serving the feeder leagues and Supply league levels. I was a Marathon runner in my early days and have always enjoyed sport.
