Bro Chris Curling

I joined Freemasonry and Septem lodge in November 2018. I was initiated on the 10th November 2018, passed to the 2nd Degree on the 9th March 2019 as part of a double ceremony and raised to the 3rd Degree on the 9th November 2019, again as part of a double ceremony.

I very much enjoy the camaraderie and friendship within the lodge and the many associated social aspects of it.

I have lived in the wonderful town of Deal all my life. I have worked in the Civil Service for the last 20 years and before that worked for Travelex the foreign currency exchange company. In both jobs, I have been fortunate to work lengthy periods abroad including New York and Tampa in the USA for 6 months and also in Frankfurt, Paris and Lithuania as well as many cruise ships all over the world.

I did in fact meet my wife Hayley whilst we were working for Travelex in Frankfurt. We have been married for 20 years and have a 15 year old Stanley. We love our holidays and my favourite destinations are Florida and Greece and I also love the New Forest where my family holidayed every year when I was a child. Though now in my early 50s, I still play football three times a week including Saturday mornings in the East Kent Youth league.

I am a Tottenham fan for my sins and always book a few weeks off work every World Cup and Euros to watch England on TV. One of my proudest occasions was watching my son Stanley be a mascot at a Spurs match. I managed Stanley’s football team for 6 years though he is now more rugby than football player. I enjoy going to the cinema and my favourite films of all time are the original Star Wars films, Back To The Future trilogy and Die Hard films.

I visited the setting for Nakatomi Tower in Die Hard whilst in Los Angeles. I enjoy classic TV box sets, my favourites being Only Fools And Horses, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Just Good Friends, The Sweeney, The A-Team and Robin Of Sherwood. I also love attending pop concerts and my favourite singers / bands include The Eagles, The Beach Boys, Abba, Billy Joel, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, and Duran Duran. I’m basically stuck in the 1970s and 80s.
