Stewards
In the Septem Lodge, it is usual for Progressive Officers to come from the current board of Stewards. Initially a first appointment to Steward is the first rung of the progressive ladder. Stewards will, in their order of seniority in the Lodge move to the position of Deputy Chief Steward, then to the Chief Steward of the Lodge. These two positions are not an official office within the Lodge but if you are lucky enough to have a number of Stewards, it is best to have a person to oversee them and ensure that all duties are carried out.
To be appointed to the rank of a Provincial Grand Steward is a great honour for the Individual and the Lodge, the person appointed wears a Red Apron and is easily recognised by that. The appointment is special because there are only 7 Provincial Stewards appointed each year and they carry out their duties for a 2 year period as an active Provincial Grand Lodge Officer.
Septem Lodge has been honoured by having 3 Stewards appointed by the Province over the past 16 years, starting with Mike Gee in 2004, Kevin Kemp in 2013 and Peter Sparrow in 2018
