As a Steward of the Lodge, his duties are to introduce visitors and see that they are properly accommodated, to assist in the collection of dues, subscriptions and fees, to keep an eye on Lodge expenses at the time of refreshment, to see that the tables are properly furnished, to see that every brother is suitably provided for and generally to assist the Deacons and other Officers in the performance of their respective duties.

In the Septem Lodge, the Deputy Chief Steward is the 2nd most senior member of the Board of Stewards. His duties are the same as that of all Stewards except that he will assist the Chief Steward or step in during a temporary absence of the Cheif Steward, to ensure that all of the tasks allocated to the Stewards of the Lodge are carried out. He could also be responsible for purchasing raffle prizes and organising the sale of raffle tickets, and the handing over of the proceeds to the Lodge Treasurer.
